The current version of bee is 2.4.3 released on 29 March 2011.

Quick Start

Note: For a more detailed overview of the program, read the manual.

Getting started in 4 steps

  1. Install bee. Remember: on Linux and OS X systems you must install the SDL library as well.
  2. Start the program.
  3. Click on "Pick ROM," then on "Find ROMs" in the lower left corner. Browse the directories where you keep your ROM images (including system or "BIOS" ROMs). Do this to show the emulator what ROM images you have for this system and where to find them.
  4. In the "Pick ROM" window, select the game you want to start from the list of all your known games and run it. Use the [Esc] key to pause emulation. To find out about or modify the controls, click on "Controls," then on "configure."
